Owo Attack: Identities of the arrested suspects revealed.


The identities of the five suspects arrested in connection with the brutal killing of worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, have been unveiled. 

Recall that no fewer than 40 worshippers were killed with several others injured in the attack that occurred on Sunday morning, July 5, 2022.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, on Tuesday, August 9, revealed the suspects are, Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Momoh Ojo Abubakar, Aliyu Yusuf Itokpka, Auwal Ishaq Onimisi, and Idris Ojo. 
“Omeiza is one of the masterminds of the 5th June attack of the Catholic Church in Owo as well as the attack on a police station in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State that led to the killing of a policeman as well as weapons carted away,” the CDS said in Abuja. 

Adding that he was arrested on the August 1, 2022 at Eka Okehi Kogi State during an operation with other branches of security. While Idris Ojo, 32, was arrested on August 7, at Aiyetoro C in Ondo State. 

“Idris Ojo wasn’t done with his previous activities but was planning other deadly attacks along with his cronies before his arrest,” General Irabor added.

Four children, two women regain freedom from terrorist


More train hostages have regained their freedom, galaxy TV gathered that the release victims are mostly children and women

Newsmen also gathered that the family members of the victims paid a whooping sum of N200 million to regain their freedom.
Gunmen had on March 28 blown up rail track on the kaduna Abuja train at, killing some and abducting scores of passengers, a situation that called for serious concern about the safety of the nation’s trains.

Wednesday release is coming a few days after five other victims of the abducted Kaduna-bound train were freed by the terrorists.

The victims, who consist of four child, two women and a male secured their freedom around 1pm.

I WAS MOCKED WHEN MY SON DIED – Pastor E.A Adeboye



General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), pastor Enoch Adeboye, has claimed some people mocked him when he lost one of his sons last year.

He revealed this while preaching on Tuesday night during the ongoing 70th Annual Convention of the church along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The pastor said God carried him when he was in the saddest period of his life in May 2021 after the death of his 42-year-old son, Dare.
He said, “Some of you have heard this before: when I was in the saddest period of my life, with so many questions and I know that even in my deep sorrow some people were still laughing at me, I got a text from one of my daughters.
“All she said was: ‘Daddy, let God carry you’. And that put an end to any problem; it ended my sorrows. It renewed my faith.”

Dare, the third child of 80-year-old Adeboye, died on May 4, 2021 in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family.

Married to Temiloluwa, the deceased was the Assistant Pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35 before his death and father to three daughters.


Kidnappers abduct trader in Lagos, demand N10m ransom


Kidnappers stormed a shop at Plywood area of Epe, Lagos, Sunday night, abducting a trader identified as Hajia Aminat Folorunsho–Balogun.

Meanwhile, the abductors, yesterday, contacted her family, demanding N10 million ransom for her release.

Vanguard gathered that the kidnappers, who pretended to be customers, walked into her shop at about 10.07pm, requesting to buy water. Her husband was said to be in the shop with her.
While the transaction was ongoing, one of the strangers, put off the power generating set, thereby throwing the entire shop into darkness. They collected the couple’s phones and beat them up.

Thereafter, they locked her husband inside the shop, smuggled her into their vehicle and drove away.

A relative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the kidnappers contacted the victim’s husband in the early hours of Monday, demanding N50 million ransom for her release.

The relative said: “After much bargain, they told him they would not go below N10 million. The family pleaded for N2 million but they declined. We have been going from place to place to appeal for funds.

“We are appealing to the Lagos State government and well-meaning Nigerians to assist us,“ the relative stated.

On its part, the Lagos State Police Command said investigation into the abduction of the trader had begun.

Spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, said: “The case was reported and we are making substantial movements. We don’t want to say much but we are making progress.”

29 Arrested for Alleged Internet Fraud in Ibadan


Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested twenty-nine (29) internet fraud suspects in a sting operation at Omi-Adio area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The suspects are Abdullahi Kehinde Tawab, Ayomide Alase Abiodun, Hassan Larla Olamilekan, Makinde Adebowale Saheed, Tofunmi Oyebade Segun, Rotimi Gbadamosi Ayomide, Igbamidun Joshua Olamiposi, Gbadamosi Samson Tobiloba, Qodir Ayoola Babalola, Frank Obi Ogechukwu, Olawale Abowaba Joshua, Dauda Kareem Oladayo, Hammed Dauda Akanji, Yusuf Akorede Abiodun and Haruna Adedoyin Kayode.

Others include Yusuf Lawale Raji, Adejare Ayuba Olamide, Owolabi Gbadamosi Moses, Victor Salami Gbenga, Abdullahi Teslim Taiwo, Oluwaseun Abowaba Samuel, Alase Ayodele Philip, Oduola Kunmi Ireola, Ajayi Olumide Olamilekan, Opeyemi Samuel Enitan, Yusuf Ayobami Qudus, Atanda Jamiu Olamide, Ibrahim Bashit Alade and Ilori Peter Oladapo.

Items recovered from them include mobile phones, laptops, two motor-bikes, one i-watch, video games and jewelry.

They will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.

Oyo CP Flags off Security Awareness Initiative in Ogbomoso and Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command in its resolve to proficiently curtail the rising trends of Crime and criminality across the length and breadth of the State, on Tuesday launched a Security Awareness Tour across its ten Area Commands spread across the length and breadth of the State to confront emerging security concerns in the State. 
The tour, strategical designed for the purposes of strategic communications and improved access to feedbacks from its communal partners, took place in Ogbomosho and Oyo Area Commands of the State.

While on course at Ogbomosho Area Command, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams and his entourage made a quick stop at the Palace of the Olugbon of Orileigbon, where he was received by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Francis Olusola Alao.

At the Palace, the royal father expressed concern on the security situation in the axis as well gave the assurances of his cooperation towards the Command's various security interventions.
The Commissioner of Police in his remarks at the two separate occasions, explained to stakeholders how the command was taking the fight to the criminal elements through; purposeful driven intelligence, stop and search activities, technological assisted surveillance, joint patrols across highways and boarder towns in concert with local hunters and Vigillantes.
The meetings at both Area commands had in attendance at Ogbomosho; His Imperial Majesty, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, His Royal Majesty, Olayiwola Ajiboye III and a host of other traditional leaders and various representative from other Sister agencies.
The Commissioner of Police enjoined the good people of the State to continue with their unrelenting support and cooperation for the command, by providing timely and credible information capable of nipping crime in the bud at all times.

Recall that residents of Ogbomsho yesterday took to the streets to registered their displeasure against rising cases of kidnapping and killings in the town while they blocked major roads in the town.

Former governors Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame, finally released from prison

Former governors Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame, who were granted a presidential pardon by President Muhammadu Buhari a few months back, have finally been released by the authorities of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Nyame, a former governor of Taraba State, and Nyame, an erstwhile governor of Plateau State, were serving separate prison terms for fraud until they were granted the controversial pardon by Buhari, a development that received a lot of negative reactions.

Nyame was serving a 12-year jail sentence for diverting ₦1.64 billion during his tenure as governor of Taraba, while Dariye was serving 10 years in prison for ₦1.126 billion fraud.
Recall that the Council of State, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, had in April approved the pardon of 159 convicts, including the two former governors.

The two former governors, who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, were convicted by Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the Abuja High Court in 2018.

Recall that on Saturday, Beauty ended her relationship with Groovy for dancing with Chomzy.

The two housemates engaged in a serious argument during the Saturday night party after Beauty accused Groovy of dancing with Chomzy.

Last week, Beauty assaulted Ilebaye for defending Chioma, an action that got her a first strike.

However, Biggie on Sunday announced that Beauty was disqualified for violence and asked to leave the house immediately.

Kuje prison attack: NSCDC gives N2.8 million to family of slain officer, promises to employ daughter




The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), has given the family of its officer, Inspector Iliyasu Abraham, killed in the recent Kuje medium custodial center’s attack by Islamic State of West Africa, (ISWAP), terrorists, on July 5, 2022, the sum of N2.8 million as an intervention to support the family after losing its breadwinner.

Presenting a check of N2.5 million and cash of N300, 000 to the wife of the deceased, Mrs Elizabeth Abraham, and her daughter yesterday in Abuja, Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi, said the agency is fully committed to the welfare and wellbeing of its officers and the heroic passing of Abraham will not be taken for granted noting that the circumstances of his passing while on active duty.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, (PRO), Olusola Odumosu, Audi explained that the money given to the family was in fulfilment of his promise to ensure that necessary compensation is given to the family in due time and as an intervention from government and the Corps to assist the deceased family in ameliorating some burial expenses.
While consoling the family, the CG assured the daughter of late Inspector Iliyasu of employment into the corps as soon as the federal government gives approval for recruitment into the agency saying that her father would be remembered as a hero, who died in active serve.
Audi further said, “The Corps will not be deterred from protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, lives and property of law-abiding citizens and regulation of private guards amongst other mandates of the Corps.”
He charged all the Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, Area Commanders, CG’s Special Intelligence Squad and the Special Anti-vandal Squad among others, to continue to develop new strategies as they work in synergy with other security agencies in confronting all forms of security challenges affecting Nigeria.

Offa Grammar School student killed self for repeating class: Police



The police in Kwara said a 17-year-old student of Offa Grammar School in the Offa local government area died of suicide after failing to pass his promotion examination.

The police command in Kwara said a 17-year-old student of Offa Grammar School in Offa local government area died of suicide after failing to pass his promotion examination from SS1 to SS2.

This is contained in a statement by police spokesman Okasanmi Ajayi in Ilorin.

He said the corpse of the deceased was removed from a tree behind Ariya Garden Hotel, Offa, by a team of policemen from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Offa, at about 3:34 p.m. on Tuesday.

The officer explained that the student was asked to repeat the class because he failed the exam.

”The corpse was taken to the Offa General Hospital for autopsy, while an investigation has been launched into the matter,” the police said.

In another development, the spokesman said an alleged notorious cultist on the wanted list of the anti-cultism team and other members of his gang, on a mission to carry out a gruesome attack on a target yet to be identified, were traced and arrested in a supermarket located in the Unity area of Ilorin on Tuesday.


“The commissioner of police in Kwara, Tuesday Assayomo, advised parents to monitor their wards and show them love at all times,” said the police spokesman.

Police kills wanted criminal suspect, arrest another in Delta.


Operatives of the Delta state police command says it has killed a Suspected criminal who has been on the wanted list of the command after engaging him in a gun duel along illah road, in Oshimili local government area of the State.

The suspect identified as Japheth according the Delta police spokesperson Edafe Bright was responsible for several attacks on policemen and killings of innocent person's until he was sighted by patrol who engaged him in a shootout which made him sustain injuries and resulted to his death in the hospital

According to the police, another gang member of the suspect precious Azuka was arrested with a locally made gun, and presently at the state police headquarters in Asaba where he is undergoing investigation to arrest other gang members.
It will be recalled that a Suspected leader of the proscribed IPOB believed to have killed three policemen at Okpanam was on Monday shot and killed on the same illah road by operatives of the Delta police command.

Kidnapped LAUTECH Student, Hotelier Shot Dead After Alleged Payment Of Ransom.

Kidnapped final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Rachael Opadele and hotelier Olugbenga Owolabi have been reportedly shot dead, after alleged payment of N5m of ransom demanded by gunmen

Recall that Rachael, who was kidnapped last Thursday at Abaa community in Surulere local government area was yet to regain freedom in spite of efforts intensified by security agencies.

However, 7 days after the dastardly act, it has been gathered that the kidnap victims have been shot dead by the gunmen.

 It was learnt that the families of the victims effected the payment of the demanded ransom through an established link, who went to their hideout along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway in a motorbike otherwise known as Okada.

Anticipating possible arrest by the soldiers deployed to monitor the security situation in the Ogbomoso area, the gunmen became suspicious of the link person.
It was gathered after collecting the demanded sum, they opened fire on the victims, the link person and the Okada riders.
The kidnap victims, as reliably informed died on the spots while an Okada rider who escaped with bullet wounds is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
